Forced to Watch – The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim
So, there I am on a flight to Seattle. The seat-back screen is broken and they have to reset the system to get it working. “Just my luck”, I think to myself, after a full hour into waiting for the thing to be fixed and forced to raw-dog the flight. Finally the screen comes on, and I explore my movie options. There it is! I see the artwork! I read the text… The War of the Rohirrim…
“Well I managed to go more than 6 months without watching it, but I’ve got literally nothing better to do”, I think to myself. So, I select it. Up comes the sweeping score remniscent of the very best music set to film. For a moment, a sweet brief moment, I feel excitement. Followed by 15 minutes of crushing boredom.
I turned off the movie and found an episode of “Curb Your Enthusiasm”. It seemed to be the appropriate alternative.
I could feel free to live my life without the burden of having watched this film.
Little did I know there was a dark lord, who had other plans…
I have read somewhere that this movie was thrown together with minimal budget. It could have been such a great movie if somebody had put some effort into it.
