Return of the King: The Ride of the Rohirrim [4K]

“Theoden King, a greater son of worthy sires.”

I couldn’t wait for the Blu-Ray release so I spent 6 hours up-scaling this scene using an AI.
All music and art/footage belong to their respective owners, this is just fair use and I am but a humble fan.

  1. "Suddenly the king cried to Snowmane and the horse sprang away. Behind him his banner blew in the wind, white horse upon a field of green, but he outpaced it. After him thundered the knights of his house, but he was ever before them. Éomer rode there, the white horsetail on his helm floating in his speed, and the front of the first éored roared like a breaker foaming to the shore, but Théoden could not be overtaken. Fey he seemed, or the battle-fury of his fathers ran like new fire in his veins, and he was borne up on Snowmane like a god of old, even as Oromë the Great in the battle of the Valar when the world was young. His golden shield was uncovered, and lo! it shone like an image of the Sun, and the grass flamed into green about the white feet of his steed."

  2. Everytime I'm back here, I watch this scene twice. The first one I get goosebumps. The second one I cry. Every. Single. Time.

  3. You know why the Rohirim stand out so much in these films? Theyre men. Simple, unaltered. They dont have any magic backing them up. None of them were specifically bred for intense fighting. They're operating on unbreakable courage and faith in victory alone.

  4. Most of the film is great, as expected. But those times they simply let Tolkien and his epic speeches breathe…. Magic

  5. I wish Tolkien could have seen this. If there is a heaven, I hope that Tolkien can see this.

  6. Main reason they had to kill of saruman early, if he saw the witch king was portrayed to pwn Gandalf, he'd kill Peter Jackson

  7. The witch king used death as a threat and a source of fear. The riders of Rohan understood death was always meant to be a gift. A doorway. The riders feared no darkness and with the rising of the Son rode to the aid of their friends with wild abandon. Beautiful.

  8. Arise, arise, Riders of Théoden! Spears shall be shaken, shields shall be splintered, a sword-day, a red day, ere the sun rises! Ride now, ride now, ride! Ride for ruin and the world's ending! Death! Death! Death! Forth, Eorlingas!

  9. on christmas these years my older brother got me the special edition of the last movie on dvd.
so on christmas for one year we'd watch fellowship, then the next year we'd watch two towers…and on christmas evening me and my brother and my mom would go see the next movie.

i lament those who werent around for the release of these movies. and how special it really was to see them for the first time.

  10. On my son's 12th birthday, I will rent a small theater and we will watch all three movies and we will cry together as father and son

  11. Fun fact: Rohirrim's charge is based on the Winged Hussars charge at the Battle of Vienna.

  12.
