  1. I read a book on Nolan Ryan back in jr.high school around 1982 and it said he was clocked at 109. I always thought he was the fastest.

PS: he Soaked his fingers in pickle juice after every game to help with blisters.

  2. It’s time to let go of the 108 mph bullshit. It’s physically impossible for a human being to throw a baseball that fast.

  3. Nolan Ryan would pitch consistent 100mph fastballs for an entire 9 inning game. He wasn't an opener, he wasn't a closer. The dude also played when lots of rules and regulations were being put into play that didn't hinder his pitching, but set up all kinds of barriers to stop him from achieving huge milestones.

Nolan Ryan was undoubetdly the best pitcher the game has seen. Wouldn't it be great to know about outches that weren't clocked???

  4. Your leaving out that chapman's pitch was measured just off his finger tips , that ball crossed the plate not at 105 , it crossed at 95mph there's a 10% loss in velocity from mound to plate .
Ryan's day pitches were measured at the plate not off the mound .
    Perspective :
If Ryan was pitching today his fastest pitch would've clocked…..off the mound at 119.9 mph .
Crossing the plate at about 109 .
Ryan threw across the plate routinely 100 , or today's measurement 110 mph measured off the mound . The entire game .
Nobody today has ever seen a 100 mph ball across the plate .
MLB changed where the pitches are measured to create interest , when people hear 100mph they pay attention .

  5. Chapman isn’t anywhere close to Nolan Ryan. Stats like Ryan you’ll never see again. If his teams where any better he could’ve got well over 400 wins in his career. Probably the last man ever to attempt to win 500 games in a year.

  6. Unjustifiable ? Next time check your dictionary before you try to educate others. Don't understand the math and never will, and " don't fact check me on that". These are not statements that engender admiration or respect for you or your "facts"
